Federal Government and Private Organization Small Business Grants
Every year the federal government and private organizations give out billions of dollars to entrepreneurs. This money is awarded in the form of a grant. Small business grants are given to those people who want to start their own small business as a means of supporting themselves while at the same time contributing to the US economy. A grant is nothing like a loan, which you have to pay back. You determine how much of a grant you need, and if the amount is acceptable to the awarding body, you receive the grant money and never have to pay it back. As well, grant money is interest free and not subject to taxes. Of course you need to complete the grant application and meet several requirements before you’re awarded the grant. And keep in mind that you’ll have competition for that grant so your application has got to be complete, accurate, and eye catching.
To qualify for a grant you won’t need to go through a credit check nor will you have to provide any collateral or security deposits. You also don’t need to have a co-signer. Even people who are in debt, have a bad credit rating, or have declared bankruptcy can apply for a small business grant. The only main qualifications are that you’re a US citizen and that you pay your taxes.
But just where do you find those grants? Many private organizations have been set up to encourage the growth of small businesses. These private organizations are comprised of individuals, trusts, and corporations. In order for these private organizations to maintain their tax exempt status they need to distribute 5% of their annual assets every year. Every different organization will focus on a certain area of the US population, providing grant money that helps individuals while at the same time helping them to keep their status.
Small business grants are also provided by the US government. Government officials recognize that small business is the mainstay of the US economy. In order to continue to encourage the growth of small businesses, grants are offered to entrepreneurs who want to start their own business as a means of supporting themselves and their families. Grants are also available for individuals who want to attend business school so that they gain the knowledge they need to start their own business.
State programs are another branch of government that awards grants to entrepreneurs. Every US state is interested in promoting and enhancing their economy. The more small businesses a state has the higher their tax revenues become. It’s for this reason that state grants are awarded every year to individuals who want to start their own small business. Most government agencies recognize that small businesses are necessary for an energetic economy.
